About Karen

karen asemper inspirational speakerKaren Asemper is a successful International Empowerment Speaker, Author of Life Is A Game So Play IT - 21 Ways To Make Life Easier, Actress and Life Coach having graced our screens in the nations much loved soaps Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Doctors. She has also worked with Patrick Stewart and Anna Friel to name a few.

This was not however her first choice of career, but after pursuing her first love of dance and training at two of the most prestigious dance schools in the world, Northern School Of Contempoary Dance in Yorkshire and Alvin Ailey in New York, what seemed to be just another punch from the hand of fate in a long line of adverse luck, she was badly injured and told she would no longer be able to dance professionally.

What must have felt like the final blow came after her move to Leeds where she half escaped but half clung on to a past which saw her at the age of three watching an alcoholic suicidal mother attempt to leave this world, then growing up suffering constant racial abuse and bullying from the National Front.

Not surprisingly Karen learned to escape from much of this torment by immersing herself in her goals. Through a strength and motivation no one can fully comprehend, these goals manifested into a solid focus and then a self belief that has powered her into the woman she is today, a belief that we all have choices and the ability and right to make them.

In 2016 Karen was diagnosed with Inflammatory Arthritis, a disease similar to Rheumatoid Arthritis.  Within three months of the diagnosis Karen could hardly walk, could only stand for a few minutes at a time and needed assistance dressing herself.  Six months into the disease 75% of her body had become crippled with pain.   Doctors had advised Karen that she needed Methotrexate, Sulfazene and Steroids to fight the disease.  Karen believed that toxic chemo drugs were not the answer so refused.  Karen knew she had a choice to heal herself on a deeper level. So with self-belief, resilience and total immersion Karen studied nutrition and alternative healing.  Her goal was to achieve remission naturally.  Within four months Karen was pain free, walking and had achieved remission; a result that Doctors still find remarkable to this day.

She is truly an inspiration to us all and a welcome reminder that what we hold inside of us can bring us untold richness.
