Balance: What is it, how do we get it, and what does it look like?

Inspiration and Life Coaching Comments Off

The beginning of last year I nearly burnt myself out, as it was work, work, work. I had started a new business, and I knew that I had to put the work in if I wanted to make my mark. 7 days a week I was working towards my goal.

What I realized was by making small adjustments you actually make further progress in your work and have a lot more fun along the way. I switched off at the weekends (no email checking on the iPhone) I watched a movie, and communicated in person with loved ones.

Part of my happiness consists of my 6am gym sessions, if I was up working till late, it meant going to bed late, and any bedtime after 10pm for me, means I’m not waking up at 4.30am for my workout. Your health really does affect the quality of your life. Think about how much better you feel after good nights sleep, healthier eating, and exercise.

Sometimes I would have to say NO to extra work. The Taxi rides you give the family, the extra work load your may be asked to take on. You may have to be ruthless.

All work and no play can make you a dull person. I felt my sense of humor disappearing, I didn’t find a lot funny as my concentration was always on work. So a night out with the girls helped me find my fun side again, as I danced the night away, I felt free.

So while your going through your goal list full steam ahead, don’t forget about the bit that happens in between “Life” its here to be “Lived”, so fill it with so much love, laughter and as many dreams as you can.

2012 is the year you were waiting for. So make this year the journey of your dreams.
